Inspired by the parametric facade of Nantong Urban Planning Museum, I was trying to translate the basic logic of this pattern to a new design
The first step is to remodel this pattern in Rhino and test
different variety
My study focused on the change of pattern’s porosity at the horizontal level and vertical level. We reduced these images by three different scales according to the number of facades, columns, and the size of each opening. Then I built up a Grasshopper model to analyze the underlying logic of the facade.
After figuring out underlying logic, I tried to use the paper models to test different ideas that could represent the logic.
I finally landed on Wing. It inherits the logic of the source pattern but also mixes with light and graceful
